2018  Fundraising Raffle

Raffle Premise

For many people, the name "Hardy Gallery" conjures up images of the historic graffiti-covered warehouse situated on the shores of Ephraim's picturesque Eagle Harbor; for others, the name represents years of memories from visiting different exhibitions presented in the unique art gallery, while some are reminded of the warehouse's history. For all of these reasons, it is easy to see why the Hardy holds so much meaning for art collectors, Ephraim residents and visitors alike.

The concept for this fundraising raffle was conceived by the Hardy Gallery Board of Directors in the fall of 2012 with the above in mind. The goal remains to create interest in a product that directly taps into the emotional connection that exists between our place and our audience. Annually, the Hardy will commission a painting that exemplifies quality at the highest level - focused on our recognizable icon, the warehouse - in partnership with a well-recognized and respected Door County artist and his or her representing gallery. Interpretation of the abovementioned subject is entirely up to the artist.

The raffle was structured to benefit all parties involved; the selected artist, who is commissioned and paid for the creation of the painting, the representing gallery who will handle the sale and the donor who will purchase the painting and donate to the Hardy. The budget set by the board for the value of the artwork is $7,500.00.

Timeframe: Ticket sales will take place throughout the entire summer season, commencing in early June to coincide with the opening of the Annual Juried Exhibit and run through the Hardy's closing in mid-October. The Drawing will be held at The Hardy Gallery on October 15th, 2018 at 1:00pm.

Ticket Sales: With our audience in mind, ticket prices have been set at $5 each or 5 for $20. The main ticket venue will be the Hardy Gallery with additional sales through the Art from the Heart partner, the board of directors, financial development committee and volunteers of the organization.

Art from the Heart Partnership. Through "Art from the Heart," an initiative first launched in 2009, the Hardy works in partnership with a fellow (local) non-profit to bring greater awareness of the respective organizations to the public and support each other financially through mutual ticket sales. In return for a stake in the fundraiser,  the Hardy has gifted 10% of gross ticket sales to its partner. Since its inception, the Hardy has gifted more than $ 1,500 to the following organizations: Door CANcer, Inc., Door County Habitat for Humanity, the Wellness Center, Northern Door Food Pantry, Door County Habitat for Humanity and Peninsual Preschool.

For 2017 The Hardy has partnered again with Peninsula Preschool, located in Ephraim, Wisconsin.

Peninsula Preschool is a not-for-profit educational organization devoted to preschool age children and their families. The school's purpose is to provide a warm, inviting and well-equipped setting where children are free and safe to play and learn. The school's curriculum stimulates intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth. Children are encouraged to think independently, pursue their natural curiosities and strive towards  their  own potential.

At Peninsula Preschool, our curriculum focuses on children learning by doing. It promotes active thinking and experimentation to enhance learning; therefore, children develop a self-image of being capable, competent  and compassionate  human beings.
